It's a day we will NEVER forget. A few days earlier I had taken a pregnancy test and was crushed when it came back negative. In fact, that night I drowned my sorrows in a tall glass of wine (OOPS!). Brian's endocrinologist had previously warned us that his hormone levels had yet to return to normal (from his pituitary tumor), and therefore conceiving a child would be a challenge for us. He even suggested we consult a fertility specialist when we were serious about starting a family. So, naturally, when the little stick said I wasn't pregnant, my heart sunk and I thought we were in for a long road ahead. Well, on November 16, 2009, I decided to take another test - after all, two came in the box and it would be a shame to let the second one go to waste. Heck, those suckers aren't cheap! Well, you would not believe my surprise when it said, PREGNANT! I couldn't believe my eyes. I was jumping with excitement, and couldn't wait to tell Brian. However, he was at work and wouldn't be home for some time.. especially since that night he decided to grab a beer with the guys after work. Of all the nights to stay out, it just HAD to be that one. I was DYING. The suspense was killing me! When Brian finally pulled up, I tied a note around Jake's neck that read "I'm going to be a big brother" and let him out to greet Brian in the garage. When Brian opened the note he was beyond confused. He stood there stunned for a few moments, and with a puzzled look asked, "Is Lola pregnant?". I responded "Umm, no, she's SPAYED". He finally gave up and said he didn't get it... apparently he was thrown off from the negative results a few days prior. After I spelled it out, Brian was in complete awe. At that time, we couldn't possibly have imagined how much our lives were about to change for the better, when our precious little Brecken bear arrived nearly eight months later.

The Day Our Lives Changed
Exactly one year ago yesterday, we got the news that would forever change our lives for the better; we learned we were pregnant!
